Its a super annoying way of locking us out of attacking his PWs while he is proliferating them up, but its critical to the game plan of the deck. Someone in my regular playgroup has Spore Frog in a superfriends Muldrotha deck. I can't stress how much I agree with this thought. The first type of hate requires conversation with the group, the second type is pretty much to be expected and as long as you're still having fun with it, everything is fine and tuning up the deck to STAX level is appropriate to handle the hate :)ĭecks need to be running removal and graveyard hate if they want to compete with other decks that has interaction and robust strategies. This kind of 'hate' is perfectly normal commander gameplay and there's nothing wrong with this unless you think there's some severe problems with threat assessment at the table. The second is just normal gameplay reaction to the commander - it is well known that Meren snowballs out of control very quickly if left alone, and hence other players often 'hate out' the Meren player because they know that if they don't do so as quickly as possible the Meren player will run away with the game. The first happens when the table actually dislikes the deck and therefore does not have fun playing with it - in this case it should be worked out with the group why they dislike it and whether you should switch to a different deck or change it so that it works better with the group. There's a difference between the group actually 'hating' the deck, compared to 'hating out' the deck when playing with them. I think the word 'hate' needs some clarification here.
